Crafters Of Faith: It’s In The Mail

apoh-DSC03082Today's card is one I made for the Crafters of Faith blogging group ~ a group of Christian bloggers that met and bonded on Split Coast Stampers to craft, fellowship, make friendships and more!  This month, our hostess was Kelly! She made this challenge fun by mailing each of us packets that included some designer papers, embellishments, a stamped image and some ribbon.

She asked use at least 2 sheets of DSP and 3 of the embellishments on our card/project and, most importantly, to have fun!

My project includes the following ingredients:
  • 3 DSP by Colorbok
  • 1 Really Reasonable Ribbon
  • 1 Prima flower
  • 1 button by Bag 'o' Buttons
  • 1 image by CC Designs (Butterfly Nora)

I started with Recollections brown cardstock as my base layer (cut to A2 size).  I cut and layered 2 of the DSPs and adhered those to the front of my card.  I cut a rectangle and de-embossed it with my cuddlebug polka dot folder and then I added a piece of ribbon.  I coloured my stamped image with copics, added some glitter to her wings, and popped her up on the de-embossed rectangular piece and glued that to the front of my card.  I tied my ribbon using the bow easy and secured a flower to it with a big white brad then glued that to the bottom corner of my card.  I added a button to the center of the brad.  I finished off the front of my card by stamping my sentiment on a piece of white cardstock and layering it on top of a leftover piece of the plain blue paper which I adhered to the top of my card.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of green cardstock and glued that down.  I cut a piece of white cardstock and used my Tim Holtz sponge applicator to color the edges with blue colorbox chalk ink. I secured that to the green cardstock, added my stamped logo to the back of the card and I was done!

This makes card #27 out of 100 in my card challenge.

Linky Party Advertising…

There is a site on the internet called The Blog Guide.  Among a lot of other things, you can advertise your blog there and find some great blogging tips.  If you are interested, check this place out...

Ask And You Shall Receive…

It was suggested that I provide my freebies as JPG files as well.  So, I’m am linking you to a file of JPGS of all the freebies I have offered to date.  They are in a ZIP file and you will need a program that can Unzip them. (I use IZARC free download).  If you have problems and need help you can email me.  My address can be found on the left.

Enjoy.

I Need Ideas…

I’m looking for some ideas that will help me get more followers.  It’s always so hard as a new blogger to get the word out. What are the kind of things that you look for when visiting a blog.  What kinds of things can I add to make my blog more interesting?  What would you like to see?  Any thoughts/ideas/tips/suggestions would be a great help to me.  I’m not saying I can incorporate them all at once but over time I will do my best to include the things you are looking for.

Thanks for your help!

100 in 100 Challenge Card #26

Good Saturday afternoon, everyone.  I’m just about to leave for a BBQ at my father-in-laws.  Tis the season, yum yum.  Before I go I wanted to make this quick post.  My boss had surgery on Thursday so I made her this card to help speed along her recovery.  This makes card #26 out of 100.  I should mention that these images are both digital freebies.  The nurse is a Dearie Dolls image (isn’t she adorable). I just love Dearie Dolls.   The sentiment is by Meljen’s.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

Good Morning & 100 in 100 Challenge Card #24…

How is everyone this fine Saturday morning?  I am actually not feeling 100% today.  It could be due to the fact that I’m on the tail end of my week of vacation … or it could be that my computer is most likely on the way to becoming a door-stop. I’m not sure but I feel drained and I have a headache.

Yesterday my computer just out of the blue made this horrific sounding noise and it scared me so much that I just shut down right in the middle of a post without closing any of my open applications.  After about 5 minutes I summed up enough courage to start it up again.  The noise was still there but not as loud.  It kept making the noise on and off for the better part of the day so at 7pm I called up the Geek Squad and asked them if they would take a look at it.  They did and it was determined that my fan is what is making that noise.  I guess that’s good news and bad news.  The good news is that it’s not my hard drive.  The bad news is that even though it’s just a fan, to have it replaced would cost half of what it would cost to purchase a new laptop.  Not worth it as well as I don’t have the money to do either.  So I bought a cooling mat instead (Targus Lap Chill Mat for those of you who are interested.  It has 2 fans operated by USB port) and it’s helping to keep the computer cool which helps the fan to not have to work so hard.  The other thing I did was lower my power settings, however, in doing that the performance of my computer is lessened so it’s a give-take sort of thing.  Oh well, at least it’s working … for now … and the noise is pretty much gone away.  Having said all that, I did a complete backup of my computer in case of emergency (NOTE:  You should do this at the very least once a month.  You can set up an automatic schedule to accomplish this task).

I know I probably sound like a ridiculous ninny but my computer is my baby.  I would be absolutely beside myself without it.  Call me addicted (and I know that I am) but this is my form of stress-release.   I NEEEEED MY COMPUTER, lol.

Alright, enough of my whining and on to the real intention of this post.  Below you will find my very, very simple card #24/100 in my 100 cards in 100 day challenge.  I only have until September 18th to complete this challenge so I really need to get a move on.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

100 in 100 Challenge–Card #22

It’s been an interesting day with all the weather patterns we have going on around us.  Storm seems to be hitting everyone BUT us .. and we need the rain!!

I mentioned yesterday that I had a card to share with you.  I’m still learning how to use my copics.  I have the hardest time trying to figure out where the shadow should be.  This makes card #22 out of 100 for the challenge.

Enjoy.

100 in 100 Challenge–Card #21

Hubby took our dog to the vet yesterday.  $250 later --- and that was without the heartworm medications that we declined.  That would have added another $135 to the bill.  Love my dog – hate the vet bills!!   So, after having a cow over the cost of the vet bill I decided to make this easel card in honor of cowsnotice the handmade yellow baker’s twine *grin*

This makes card 21 out of 100.   Enjoy.

100 in 100 Challenge–Card #20

I’m going to give my mom this card on her birthday in August.  I planned to enter it into a challenge but after I had it all done I realized that I didn’t use the focal image they required so it’s back to the drawing board, lol.  This makes card #20 out of 100 in the challenge.  Only 80 more to go.  I can do that, right?  Enjoy.

Here Is My Handmade Baker’s Twine

I have finally had a chance to upload my photo of the baker’s twine I made (from tutorial below).  I played with it a few times before I came up with something I liked.  It’s pretty easy to do once you get to know which colors bleed.  I found that dark blue, most reds, and purple bleed more than other colors.  I used both my Copic markers and my Bic Mark-Its.  The blue, coral and pink are copic colors and the yellow and purple are Mark-Its.  If you would like the actual copic #’s or mark-it names give me a shout and I’ll go and have a look.  Enjoy.

100 in 100 Challenge–Card #19

Only had a little time today to throw this simple card together.  I hope to be less busy by the weekend so I can make some serious progress on my card challenge!  Something smells really good in my kitchen (my daughters are cooking – yay!)…bruschetta pasta.  If it tastes as good as it smells I will be enjoying one awesome dinner!  Enjoy the rest of your day, friends.

Handmade Baker’s Twine

I found a video today that shows you how to make your own baker's twine.  Absolutely brilliant.  I will be shopping tomorrow for sure so that I can make some of my own. I'll post pics of my results when I'm done.  In the meantime, check out this video...
