Need Opinions...

I'm thinking about selling my cricut and getting a silhouette. I've heard a lot of good things about it but I'm wondering about what you guys think. Do you own one? Would you like to weigh in on the pro's/con's of the machine or give me your thoughts on the cricut vs silhouette?

    1. Hi April, I hope da peeps respond to this post because I'm super interested in hearing what they have to say as well. I've been watching youtube videos tonight and I'm about ready to run out of the house and buy one. Too bad the stores are all closed now, lol. It's a very cool machine! I have a cricut and I think I've used it about 6 times since I bought it over a year ago. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Hi, Sharon. I too will check in to see what people say. I do not have either machine.

I have heard that the S is a great way to go. A lot of options for minimal price. You can purchase five items for under $5, instead of having to purchase a whole cartridge you may or may not use for a lot more.

I think you can find exactly what you are looking for, instead of trying to make something you already have work....know what I mean?

Another benefit would be storage. Everything is online and you do not have to make space for it.

I know that Gina K, is now offering stamp sets that work in conjunction with the S. You might want to check out some of her videos to see.

    Have a good day!

    1. Hi there, I've been looking at the online store tonight and you can get most items for 99 cents .. or you can buy subscriptions which give you monthly credits. If I remember correctly its $9.99 for $25 worth of credits, $14.99 for $50.00 credit and $19.99 for $150 credit..you can carry over a month but I think you have to use the credits up in 60 days. Anyhow, what I'm seeing so far I'm liking. I'm going to list my cricut on my company classifieds site tomorrow to see if anyone wants to buy it. I already have a buyer for my cartridges.

  3. I have a silhouette, love it!
Started with a craft robo years ago and upgraded to a Gazzelle. Quite happy with that, but could never get a print and cut right. I am in the uk, so the Gazzelle was not available here, so when it went wrong I was stumped. This was the time they were upgrading all the machines and the distance meant that that was impossible too...I wasn't happy. I got the Silhoutpette for Christmas and haven't looked back. Would recommend. If I can answer anything else I would be happy to.

  4. Like others, I will be checking back for comments. Shhhh don't tell my hubby 'cuz he bought me the Cricut for Christmas a couple of years ago. I'd have to keep it and use it occasionally so that I don't hurt his feelings!
Thanks everyone for sharing your research and opinions. And thanks Sharon for posting the question!

    1. Awwww, just tell hubby that it's time to upgrade, lol. If my husband knew half of what I own/purchase re this "addiction" I'd be in big trouble, lol.

    1. The cricut is a good machine and it was a good introduction to die-cutting for me but I just find it to be expensive with all the cartridges that are out there. I love the idea of being able to purchase only the images I want rather than buying a whole cartridge for maybe 3 or 4 images. At 99 cents an image it's much more reasonable! Plus you can design your own images as well as use the fonts you have installed on your computer so that's an added bonus! Personally, I'm sold ... just have to sell the cricut before I go out and buy one.

  6. I put my cricut up for sale on my company website classified e-board and I have 3 people who are interested in it so it's pretty much sold. Selling my cartridges and my gypsy as well so I will have more than enough to buy the silhouette! I'm excited!! Still want to hear those opinions, though, so keep 'em coming.

  7. I don't own a Silhouette but I do own a Eclips. I love it. I like being able to use other files. However I still have all 4 o my Cricut machines and do use them. I had way too much invest in Cartridges to just get rid of them. I use my Eclips for all SVG etc cutting files. I use my E2 for cartridge base cuts, use the Expression for cartridge base cuts when I want to make those cuts on Glitter paper or chipboard since it is my oldest machine. I use the 2 images for naturally the Image Cartridges, one I use just for printing out pattern paper.

So there is room to own both and use both.

    Just my 2 cents.

    1. Thanks, Nana. I would never get away with having both .. hubby would not like that, lol. I only own 6 cartridges and I barely use it so I don't have a lot invested in it. I have a potential buyer who offered me $100 for the machine (it's a Create so it's the 12x6 mat) and $20/each for the cartridges. Since I purchased my cartridges for $30 to $35 I thought that was a good deal. I also sold my gypsy today for $150 so I'm happy :-)

I am a little scared, though. I just hope I like it.
